Hi,
I had bought an item from the US to arrive in Australia. The seller used USPS priority because USPS Express had some restrictions due to the value of the item. Anyhow, I was given the tracking number and the last update on the USPS site says it has been processed through sort facility on the 21/09. There have been no scans showing that it has arrived in Australia. It is now 15/10. I am a bit worried and contacted the seller last week and they have lodged an inquiry with USPS. USPS have said that they will investigate and if the seller does not hear back from them within 24 days to call back. Just wanted to know if anyone has experience delays receiving USPS priority mail. The seller was told it would take 6-10 days and it's way past now. The seller has been great communicating with me so don't have any bad feeling about them. They have been great. I was also wondering how long should I wait in case it hasn't arrived to file a dispute.

Do you have a question?
If you do start a new thread.
This thread is many years old and much of the information/opinion in it will no longer be relevant. It didn't need to be bumped to the top

H yes i am having the same problem bought a gold plated charm bracelet from US on ebay cost approx $100 AU with postage and have been trackng the item as it was also sent USPS Priority Package from the US to Australia anyway have been watching to see when it arrives and it left on the 24th April so not long ago but to my astonishment it said arrived in Sydney Australia on the 6th May so I thought it would be here by now, anyway on checking the tracking it has now left Sydney Australia and has been returned to NY. I am so annoyed I have let Australia Post know and they cannot do anything nobody can help me to say why it has been returned until I googled some information tonight on US sending to Australia and found out if the parcel isnt sent Prioirity First Class Mail and insured that Australian Customs will not permit it as it is a restriction of customs anyway be interested to see if it was jewellery you were expecting which will probably why you have not received yours

That is total nonsense anyway.
I have bought a lot of jewellery from the USA over the years and none of it has ever been sent by Priority International Mail. Most of it has been sent by First Class International with e-DELCON.
There is no such USPS service as Priority First Class and what on earth do you mean by "Australian Customs will not permit it as it is a restriction of Customs"? Customs has no say in what mail services you can use to import items into Australia.

I'm in the same boat usps from Chicago to australia priority mail .i live in Sydney and the tracking says ,departed Sydney and an hour later departed Tokyo and in transit to lactation ,well hell im in Sydney why go to Tokyo? For a sushi break ,lunch break or just to break my balls? It's a stressful situation ,always ask the seller if there is other options other than usps and pay a little extra......but then again I paid 65 Aussie dollars and I'm still waiting for my parcel from USA.

Is that actually a fact that customs cannot stop parcels coming into australia just because they are not insured and first class priority mail? An honest question cause I'm waiting for electrical item usps priority from USA to Sydney and tracking states it departed Sydney and Tokyo at the same time and now in transit to address .in your experience the customs thing is it false? Not allowing items in for that reason mentioned.
thanks for reading and if possible reply.

Of course it is correct....Australian Customs have absolutely no input into the method of postage being used to send items to Australia.
It can be any sort of delivery service from the cheapest untracked postal service to a courier service with all the bells and whistles.
It sounds like your parcel has been caught up in the GSP.....did it go through Erlanger KY before being sent to Australia? If so it will be coming with FedEx.
The tracking is usually very good with this service...just wait a day or so before doing anything more.
