What to do when feedback keeps being removed?

Recently I purchased an item from a seller with a score of 35,483 and rating of 100% with ZERO negative feedback in the past 4 years.  The whole process was a nightmare with this seller, with automated emails, incorrect item being sent and a totally frustrating experience.

It's very rare that I leave any negative feedback, especially if the seller has such a high score and 100% rating, but I had to share my experience.

The following day I recieved 2 emails.  One saying that ebay has released my contact details to the seller (which I'm told is allowed) and the second email sending me my chat transcript.  Interestingly, I did not have any online chat with ebay, but the transcript shows me failing the identification questions, but still being able to remove feedback which "I left in error..."

I spoke to ebay who assured me they would investigate and the feedback was reinstated 48 hours later.  When I checked again, I saw there was 1 other negative feedback as well from another buyer.

Out of curiosity I checked the following day and both feedbacks were again gone, with the seller back to 100% positive and no negative feedbacks ever.

Again, I spoke to ebay and the feedback was reinstated.   I looked a couple of days later and again 6 other people had left negative feedback.  The following day, all of the feedback again was removed and the seller had a clean slate.

Today I reported this once again and expect the feedback reistated, but I wonder if anyone else has experienced this and what is the best way to progress because it is a worry if super-sellers who attract multiple negative feedbacks in just a couple of days can show a 100% satisfaction rating along with zero negative feedback in their history.

Re: What to do when feedback keeps being removed?

Padi, this seller has 35 revised fb's.  I noticed that some of them have been revised

to neutrals, but most are just gone entirely.

They are an Australian seller with 36,000+ fb

Spoiler
If you hover over the screenie, you'll get more info

In the above screenie, the third neg is the OP's which they managed to get reinstated,

only to have it disappear for the second time.

The bolded part is just not sitting well with me.

If it was live chat and the OP received a copy of said chat, wouldn't their ID have been

on the ebay rep's screen whilst chatting?

How else would ebay remove, or revise their feedback?  They certainly wouldn't

talk to someone who just said they were the OP.  They would have to see the OP's

ID on their screen!!

The OP didn't do a live chat, but got a copy of the transcript.

Any thoughts?   It looks grim.

I tried to check last night of you could talk to live chat without being signed in but they were offline so couldn't confirm and am now on the bus and just using mobile.

I figured the seller got contact details for a registered name and email address, and - if it's possible - used eBay as a guest but provided the details for "verification". 😕

Re: What to do when feedback keeps being removed?

But it's still doesn't make sense for an ebay rep to remove/revise negs from someone

using a guest account.

It's all wrong.  Seven ways from Sunday, it's all wrong.

And very, very worrying.

Re: What to do when feedback keeps being removed?

padi, these sort of removed feedbacks do not show in Revised Feedback count. They prove matter CAN just disappear.

Re. the impersonation of the OP's live chat. Maybe ebay does have some internal rules for their employees regarding feedback removals, and since the account manager for this particular company we're talking about seems to be the overkill type when removing feedbacks, going all the way to 100%, I am guessing the company is probably slushing some "perks" to the account manager. The perks are obviously big enough for the account manager to impersonate a member to give some credence to the feedback removal so that it is still within the internal ebay rules.

Re: What to do when feedback keeps being removed?

@stawka Totally agreed, I was just more curious to see whether it's possible to chat without signing in. There is clearly something very wrong with how the entire situation played out.
