As can be seen in the photo, Foo has had a blood test done today.

i noticed a swelling on his snout on friday morning so took him in to the vets friday afternoon.

the swelling is thought to be a tooth abcese.

whilst at the vets the vet noticed looking at Foos weight he had lost over 2 kilos since last december and about 5 kilos in a year!

hence the blood test, i will get the results tomorrow afternoon.

hes on anti biotics for his swelling and its allready gone down since friday.

the vet his holding off on the tooth problem until she gets the results from the blood test.

hes 11 years old, i'm not panicing but i am worried.

fingers crossed its not what it might be, cant even say it.

The worry - the trauma - I would want an answer.

And the owner of the dog they're trying to save?  They don't have trauma?

Dom, they're busy.  

If it's bad news do you want them to just blurt it out so they can get back to

the other dog?

No.  There's a way to deal with this, and the wait is just that - a wait.

ok, just talked with the vet.

blood tests didnt show anything to be alarmed at.

all his 'functions' look pretty normal (kidney, liver, ect)

she will show me the results tuesday.

huge relief!!!

so, i have him booked in next tuesday to have at least 1 possibly 2 teeth removed. its the big top ones at the front, the really big ones.

its going to be a big job, thats why she cant definately say both. both need removing.

as for his weight loss she wants to talk about it, but i'm not to worry as it could just be normal. since he last had a lot of teeth removed in december ive been soaking his kibble (dry food) before he gets it, it swells up a lot so perhaps ive not been feeding him enough? as it is ive been splitting each meal into two. half before i take him for a walk the other half when we get home.

he gets the pre soaked kibble mixed with tined food plus leftovers twice a day, plus snacks.

anyway, i'll discuss his feeding amount with the vet, see if increasing it (maybe 3 meals a day?)

oh, boy i'm a happy chappy just now.

we all know there will come a day when our best mates will leave us.

with me when something happens out of the blue i just get tied up in knots.

fingers crossed there isnt something lurking.

not ready for walks on my own.

funny, i was never really a dog person before FOO, we had dogs sure, but i was never really attached like i am with FOO.

possibly because i'm on my own now that dads passed away and moms in care.

Foo and Rosie are the only ones a talk to most days.

I know what it's like to be in a similar position as you (I have always had cats , not dogs) and it's heart wrenching not knowing what is wrong with your pet.

I am so very happy for you, Foo and the vet!!

That is such good news David, so far, so good.

Once there has been a really close inspection and biopsy of what's going on under and around the teeth and mouth there will be much more information .. plus it will be antibiotics etc to keep on top of any infection.

So glad to hear the two dogs with car injuries are going to recover, how frightened they must have been.
