I have been struck by a run of breakages and I find the number of incidents I have suffered at the hands of Australia Post as quite extraordinary. Having been selling on Ebay for over ten years and until the last couple had never had a broken package, I can't quite believe how much of my stuff has been getting smashed recently. I mean I am not a blase seller and have had 100% feedback for over ten years (until about two days ago...but I won't digress) and have always taken great care with my packages. I find it extraordinary that since the entry of the new overpaid CEO Australia Post has not only gotten outrageously expensive, but the service and breakages in exponentially disproportionate decline. I've lost $250 over Australia Post misadventure recently, and while we should expect a level of breakage, this is something else. There seems to me another deficiency of the new AP culture - using contract labour, increasingly casualised worforce, outsourcing and whatnot, we are no longer guaranteed a level of service that, to be fair, was actually pretty good for a long time. In fact the workers are probably expected to do more with less (as usual) to keep paying the highest paid Postal related CEO in the world. As a result, we all suffer. I think the Australia Post culture is beyond redemption now. I have lost so much confidence that I am getting paranoid about putting anything in the post anymore. I am wondering whether it might not be an idea for Ebay sellers (and other online traders) to start a class action against Australia Post for the despicable decline in service. I sent them a complaint, and have only had automated "sorry for delay in response" replies so far.
