Re: 150 free listings

Yes, I'm now able to auto relist multiples, but only for the last few weeks. The original seller release said it wouldn't be available "at this time" for multiples, so they may have been planning to do it later. As to why some don't get it at all, that's a mystery because obviously a lot of them qualify.

Re: 150 free listings

Non-business sellers can also set up listings to relist automatically up to three times for free. View more about relisting an item.

Off I went to ring CS and before I get to the phone number - this has been added to the page - I swear it was not there previously.

Anyway, CS inform me - Store holders CANNOT auto-relist - they need to use GTC and that all these changes happened in March.

His words, not mine - Stores deserve this feature !  Auto relist only happens 3 times, GTC is ongoing so is better for the store.

(Me thinks, if we are so deserving of this feature, why wasn't it pointed out to us somewhere along the way ??  And is that one of the reasons they have altered the promotional offers for stores perhaps ? (Referring to the two offers of Free Lisings - only for items over $100)

If Store holders use GTC, the first listing counts as a listing (so will use up Freebies), but when it rolls over after 30 days (then corrected himself and said 20 days) it will NOT use Freebies or count as a new listing.

Also checked, active listings (with more than 12 hours to go) can be revised to GTC and that will not count incurr any fees.

I questioned the fact that stores involved in discussions on the boards have Auto-relist and his comment was, they must have received the offer prior to March.

So, as I'm in a bit of a hurry, I did not question, what is the difference between Business and Store, he repeatedly referred to store & never mentioned Business, nor did I question his mention of  20 days -  I'll follow through on those another day, and perhaps when I get  a chance to start revising all my listings (headache !) it will show up then whether it's a 20 or 30 day rollover.

At last, if the information is correct (wink wink - haven't spoken to the other hand yet) we might have some answers.

Good luck everyone & happy selling ๐Ÿ™‚

There's a LOT of errors in what they told you!  THEY like gtc because you pay each time they roll over - every 30 days.  Read the fine print with all the extra freebies and you'll see it says GTC listings aren't free, except if the initial listing is done from a freebie.  It says if it rolls over during a period of free listing it won't be free.

I believe stores with Selling Manager Pro can set it up to relist things automatically, but that's not free either, so anyone with SMP needs to be careful of that.  I can't remember the details but I think relisting automatically with SMP was just a different way of doing gtc.

The only advantages to using gtc are that you get to keep the selling history, which probably puts it higher in Best Match (which I don't believe many use to search anyway) and that it saves time because you don't have to relist every month, and also that your items are always visible.  I find relisting every month helps me to remember what I've actually got for sale.  Smiley Happy

I'd forget all the other arguments and just point out that it says that non-business sellers are eligible to use auto relist, and that you aren't a business seller.  Regardless of the criteria for being a business seller, you'd know if you were one.  You can become a business seller without reaching any dollar limit, or I think you can, but once you change to being a business seller you can't change back again - so you'd KNOW if you're one.  It'd show somewhere on your account if you were, and you'd probably be notified when it initially happened.

Which page did you see this on?

Does it have something under this about the definition of a business seller, because this is the sort of thing that was in the page that was supposed to show on the link I pasted in.

Re: 150 free listings

I have spoken to Ebay regards this several times and they state this is only available to "Non-business new, occasional or regular sellers.

They say as I am a TRS I cannot have this. So much for rewarding the little bloke who is not a business and sells only a small percentage of his listings but busts his gut to make sure he does the right thing by Ebay and his customers every time. I am only a TRS because of my feedback but no rewards coming back to help me out.

Not happy Jan! (apologies to all those Jans out there)

Re: 150 free listings

I am a TRS and a Powerseller and I have the option to relist 3 times for free. That option did disappear breifly a few months ago and when I contacted eBay, they suggested I clear out my browser cache. I did that and the box reappeared.

Yep, I hear you, had a bad experience with GTC before the days of Free listings, when I was a newbie, so was staright onto him when he made that statement & he insisted - the first listing would come from the Free listings quota and after that it is FREE and will not (in his words) eat into the Free Listings(I have re-listed an item GTC from my remaining Free Listings and we'll see what happens in 30 days - but I guess will be hard to tell if in 30 days I have Free Listings available)He also said it all changed back in March ???

I believe stores with Selling Manager Pro can set it up to relist things automatically, but that's not free either, so anyone with SMP needs to be careful of that.  I can't remember the details but I think relisting automatically with SMP was just a different way of doing gtc.  Pretty sure I mentioned that somewhere in an earlier, (or maybe different post) - something to do with the Automation thingy - which I can't seem to find much info about.

Yep, like the idea of keeing the selling history for sure and definitely saving time !  I manually relist every month at the moment and tweek things as I go (you know, as they say, revise, change titles, anything to try and get you seen !).  But in the end, I'd rather spend less time re-listing and worrying about new policies etc etc and more time creating new items and adding them.  These days I seem to spend too much time on basic stuff and wold love to be able to streamline it a bit.

Now, here's the funny thing, and I feel STUPID !! Again !!  Would never have given this a second thought.  With the terminology of business versus non-business, have always had in my head Store versus non-Store, but then your comment triggered something stored somewhere at the back of this old brain.  So I went and checked my account and oopsie, I am a Business Seller and would never have remembered had it not been for your comment - you'd know it you're one !  Went into my account details and sure enough, Registered as a Business Seller.  Long story, so won't bore you with all the details, but found all my original notes and way back in the beginning, rang CS and as I was Buying and Selling on one account and had Registered Business name etc was advised that was the best way to go.  Was also told, which I now find amazing, that you should not have multiplte ID's - it was frowned upon - they could tell etc etc  !!

Oh, how time and experience can change so much.  Makes it so hard to know what to believe.

In the beginning as a newbie, I would have thought eBays own Customer Support could not be wrong !!!!!!

Having discovered they often are, and that if you ask the same question several times you'll get several different answers and that if you email, you'll only get a 'Cut & Paste' response 99.9% of the time I decided to try and get answers here, and I respect and value everyone's opinions and input.  But is hard when we are being told different things by eBay and I guess in man cases because of glitches in the system, not everyone's experiences are even the same.  Specifically referring to the Auto Relist, obviously some get the option & some don't for no clear reason . . . . . . (At least now I guess it's clear why I don't get it, lol)

Re: 150 free listings

Ok, not good at explaining this sort of thing, so we'll see how I go.

Clicked on Customer Support - top right

Then Contact eBay then - Selling - then Re-Listing an Item  (which I am sure was NOT an available option the day before)

The phone number was also on that page so then I just called.  I didn't follow the link to Re-Listing an item as I was in a hurry yesterday, but have since checked that link and there is information there that I could not find previusly.

Hope that helps

Re: 150 free listings

Put a note on your gtc listings in your selling page so you know which ones they are.  If you have your selling page set to ending soonest as I do, you'll see them when they're coming up to the top of the list and due to roll over.

When they're close to rolling over, take notice of how many are due to relist in the next few hours and write it down - the time when they'll all have relisted, and the number due to end.  It should only be the gtc listings that are due to relist if you can't use AR.  Then write down how many free listings you have left.  When they've rolled over, check how many of the free listings are left and work out how many you've used.

If you don't have any free listings left by time they're due to roll over, check your account to see whether you've been charged a listing fee when they rolled over (I'm sure you will have!).

No, stores and businesses aren't the same thing.  A lot of people make this mistake.  A lot of people have stores but they've only got 20 or 30 listings, and that doesn't constitute a business.  In fact, it's very UNbusinesslike to waste that much money every month!

If you aren't a registered business for what you sell these days on ebay, perhaps you could try asking ebay to change you back to a non-business account.  It says you can't change back, but it won't hurt to ask.  I'm sure you're getting used to banging your head against a brick wall by now.  :o(

I bulk relist a lot of items - saves heaps of time.  You can make a lot of changes when it's done in bulk, but once I've done a listing I rarely tweak things unless I see an error.  Better to put my time into doing more listings and into selling.  Besides, if I change the title it may prevent someone finding that listing later on.

If you bulk relist you don't get any emails but you get an email when they end, or when they AR, but not when gtc listings roll over.

Don't worry about feeling silly because you forgot you're a business.  I've found egg on the face washes off quite easily.  Smiley Very Happy
