The definition of a business sellers is in here, and a bit more who gets the auto relists - or who SHOULD get them.

G'day Cats,
Just some background to the earlier posts wondering why the NS sellers are being smiled upon so favourably at the moment .....
In the last investor report to Wall St, ebay had to report downturns in turnover, profit & it's original mainstay, auctions.
Not really surprising with the CEO's penchant for trying to "Westfield" ebay.
ebay have also been taking a bucketing on the net over the apparent "persecution" of small sellers (Mom & Pop, or "the noise") & occasional sellers. The latter tend to use the auction format & let the market determine their price.
There is no doubt that, particularly in the US, small sellers are listing/selling less on ebay & more on their own or other websites.
The 40 free listings was an attempt to keep a minimum base of small NS sellers & boost auction numbers. The 100/150 promotions are a sign that ebay is struggling to succeed with that.
The 3 free re-lists an attempt to keep their listings live for more than 10 days so they can say " We have experienced significant growth in our core business during the last quarter".
Thankfully, due to the ebay system globalisation program, we get to take advantage of it downunder these days ......

Thanks for your sharing your thoughts ejholden
Still not clear as to why US store sellers get additional free auctions in their store package each month, and Oz store sellers don't.
For many sellers auctions are simply loss leaders, and in these cases it is the buyer that is more likely to be scoring a bargain.

Sorry about the link. It says the same thing for me now. It worked the day before I posted it in. I've tried it on two IDs but it still says access denied.
It was a page with FAQ about the new fees in the autumn seller release and I can't find the info anywhere else. It said that auto relist wouldn't be available on multiple item listings at this time and also that it'd only be available to non-business sellers, then it had a definition of a business seller - someone who sells $12,000 and 100 items a year.
I've looked and looked but I can't find that same information anywhere else.

As usual I doubt that eBay's left hand has the slightest idea what its right hand is doing, because I have a multiple-item listing which has been auto-relisted religiously every 10 days for the last couple of months, the most recent relist being only 4 days ago. Go figure!

Oh, why can't it just be simple ?
When I was searching for answers the other day, I did come across something abot selling more than 100 items / year, and thought to myself, Oh, I fall into that category, but wouldn't have considered myself a big enough seller to fall into that box .. . . . . . . .
I don't recall any $ value though nor even that it related to business sellers. The only thing I recall was that the information didn't address my question, so I moved on . . . . . . mmmmm

Hahaha, yes, it will be interesting to ring CS (twice at least) and see what answers I get ! I'm sure two calls will result in two different answers ๐
