Bad seller not fair.

Hello please advise me where to go on this. I have purchased 4 coins from a seller on Saturday.  I got them reasonably priced not cheap not expensive, they were bought as silver scrap as there not in very good condition.  He had 4 all seperate auctions and they went for just under $2 each bare in mind there worth max $4 ea for there silver content.  He had each one at $4 postage each so I just assumed he would combine like all small item sellers genrally offer. Well I had a feeling something was wrong straight away as I had to send several emails to get a response , well I got one today after again sending 2 more emails. 

Now this is simply not right 4 coins the size of 10 cent pieces that cost less $7 and he wants to charge me $16 postage $4 ea. really is this allowed that is just not right.  I mean all up there only worth$16 . Consider most other sellers charge between $0.60 - $1.50 for the same service.  Now I will pay just to leave 4 red dots as that is not on and should be stamped out. Sorry for venting but its just not fair. Thanks.

While the OP has certianly got a little upset on this thread, you have to feel a bit sorry for him. It is pretty hard to justify $16 postage for four small coins and it could well be argued the cost DOES breach ebays excessive post charges policy ( unless they are sent in seperate envelopes.). Yes the buyer should have asked questions before buying, but $16 post for one small envelope is unreasonable even if technically allowed. The seller should have started the coins at a price he felt was acceptable if 99 cents was too cheap. The seller has offered to cancel the transaction, but this could partly be to avoid the red dots. It seems to me that both parties could have handled this better. All buyers and sellers could all probably learn something from this unfortunate experience. It would seem to be best for all parties for the buyer to accept the sellers offer to cancel the transaction and for everyone to put it down to experience.

The seller offered to cancel the transaction right from the word go because the buyer actually copy and pasted the sellers response in the opening post until the mods deleted it.

weighing in on this..the buyer has a right to be upset.For good public relations and a good seller to boot these coins should have been sent together...combined post... my opinion the fact the buyer did not ask and the seller does not have to combine makes no difference.

The seller should do this automatically.

If the seller had done the right thing in the beginning there would be no need for him to ask to cancel the transaction.

Treat others as you woulkd like to be treated

No he doesn't CQ...he has already edited his banknote listings to make it very clear that there is no combined postage on them.

I would be interested to know where some of his starting prices have come from...maybe fairyland?

This has been a very interesting post I think - at first, I am against the buyer  - opinions rudely expressed, did not query postage first, should not expect combined postage when not promised etc.

then the seller posts - and yes, I am still against the buyer - after all a compromise was offered, and rejected;  and I assume the coins have not arrived yet anyway - so we don't know if they are sent in separate parcels or not

but wait, now we see the seller's items and see that he is violating ebay policy by charging $50 and $100 to post a currency note for example;  so now I am against the seller.

So maybe:  bad seller AND bad buyer!

Not only is it not in the "spirit" of ebay ... it is fee avoidance
