Item Returns

Hi all. Question. Someone just bought a guitar of me, and now not even 24hrs later sends me a message asking to return it because he doesn't know how to tune the guitar properly! Am I in my right to say no? And if I do say no, it would mean he could leave me a bad rating.

What should I do?

Re: Item Returns

I always did favour this BtVS scene, referencing some very English words.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-AdcY1FPgU

TWONK

I actually lived on the other side of the border from the age of 12 until I was about 19 lol. Twonk isn't Scottish though as you can see from the above link.

English is such an expressive language don't you think;-)

Re: Item Returns

Yes we know. In post # 11 mixed tape says the buyer played it for 20 minutes when he was picking it up. Maybe he has dropped it on his head since then.

Re: Item Returns

I know about guitar techs, and I know and then will take some of my more expensive guitars to be looked over, adjusted, done up etc. But I don't have my own person guitar tech.

I did get a response from ebay asking them about what is going on, they did say to try and sort it out, and If he does lodge a disputes you just have to give your side of the story etc.

And then stated

"You are not obliged to provide refund unless found after the dispute process to be necessary"

So we will wait and see what happens. As I've said I never had an issue with the guitar, he takes it home, 7:30 in the morning sends me a msg asking for a refund because it's "impossible" to keep in tune! I don't know what he's done to it, I could have accepted the refund/return and get it back and he's done something to it and I can't sell it.

I know about guitar techs... You do now.;-)

I don't believe you should refund your buyer....however...

There is something strange about this.

You have gone to the effort to import a guitar, only play it for 5 minutes at time, to resell a couple of months later.

I don't think you would have sold it, if you knew who to take it to. ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Item Returns

Hi Mixed, just a thought, if the guitar is only 2 months old, why dont you offer to see if there is a problem, and then have it repaired or refunded under warranty.  Most guitars are covered by at least 12 months, and it could just be a case of adjusting or replacing the tuning pegs.  If it is drastic, such as the neck having too much flex from the body, and causing constant retuning (yes this happens on some new guitars), I would not be a happy buyer either.  Personally, I would take the guitar back with the offer to have it at least looked at, but no refund at this stage. Cheers Paul
