Ebay has a massive massive reach - that must be paid for.
They want 9% of the postage? - not a great idea I think, but hey, they give me a mega sales platform and I do well - so I will put up and shut up.
They put sponsored ads that undercut my products? - - not a great idea I think, but ditto, the sales are still good, so I tolerate the it (what else can I do anyway?)
They don't employ Australians nor Australian taxes? - good job! Their fees would be 20% in order to cover those costs. No thanks!
If you like eBay sell on it - if you don't like it, don't sell on it. It's that simple. If their rules and fees become too harsh, they will only harm themselves anyway, and the internet is a big place - nobody is forced to use them.
Some people treat it like some kind of public institution or charity - me thinks.

thats why ebay does & will continue to up fees because people will tolerate them.
until people stop tolerating & saying enough is enough.
ebay may have a massive reach to sell but if prices are the same if not more than what is aviliable at local b/m shops whats the point.

If you're interested in a broad range of perspectives, perhaps post a thread asking the question, otherwise, it actually just looks like you're making a point of arguing against the notion by continuing to ask the same question via a counterpoint.

I had not thought of it like that - actually I admit you have a point, changing the game rules that people originally signed on for, doesn't sound too fair & positive.
I also must admit that the picture size thing is a total joke - it's easy to increase the size of any exsisting picture with no improvement to clarity; you are right - it's pointless. You can get some really bad high res pictures that show very little and some really great low res pictures that give a good idea of what people are getting. Us sellers know this.

I kind of understand where you are coming from, but would 10% on postage really do all that?? I can't see it personally. So, something that costs $8 (regular small parcel price) will now cost $8.80 ..... It doesn't help things, but .... I don't think it will change eBay much, nor put that many people off.

For a lot of people, FVF on postage won't mean a 10% increase on eBay fees, it will mean a 100% or more increase.
This will be most noticable for small to medium sellers whose primary range is comprised of items where the postage cost is equal to or more than the item price.
As an example, a $100 item with $8.00 postage cost - currently, $9.90 FVF, after, around $10.70, a less than 10% increase on overall cost to the seller.
An $8.00 item with $8.00 postage = currently, 80c FVF, after, $1.60-odd FVF, a 100% increase in overall costs to the seller. Times that by the volume of items they have / sell, then their operating costs are about to skyrocket, possibly putting them out of the game unless they can find something to counter the damage.
The market may bear an extra dollar or two on some items, it may not, so a lot of people are very worried about the future of their business right now.

Thanks for the question. Using your example, As a private seller, If I sell an item for $8.00 now with a further $8.00 postage. My existing FVF would be around 80 cents. ( Rouded up, but lets keep it simple ). Under ebays new FVF on postage I will pay 80 cents commission on the item sold and another 80 cents commision on the postage. This is not a 10% increase in commisions to ebay, it is a 100% increase. To use another example, If I sell an item for $24 now, with your $8.00 post example, I currently pay $2.40 commision to ebay. Under the new FVF on postage I will pay the $ 2.40 commision on the item PLUS 0.80 cents on the $8.00 postage. This is an increase of 33.3% on current fees. There are many more cheaper items on ebay than expensive ones and postage makes up a higher % of item cost. I know there are so many variables ( cheaper commisions for stall holders, variable postage costs incl. International postage, the ratio of low to high value items etc. ) that we mere mortals are never going to know the exact figure that ebay will increase its commisions by with the FVF on postage, but it is going to be a heck of a lot more than 10%. The people who will be most affected are small private sellers as they are generally the people listing the cheaper items and low start auctions..
