It was back up just after 5, so it wasn't down for long.
I know we wish it, but no internet site is 100% guaranteed to work 100% of the time, and no amount of shouting will change that.

In the style of a shoutie ad...
THE INTERNET WAS DOWN. EBAY WAS DOWN. DOWN, DOWN, DOWN! AND ALL THE WAY DOWN!
YOU KNOW THE NETWORK. IT DOESN'T WORK. NETWORK, NOT WORK, NETWORK, NOT WORK. DOWN, DOWN, DOWN! UPLOADS, DOWNLOADS, SIDEWAY LOADS, ALL THE LOADS DOWN!
GET YOUR SHOUT IN BEFORE IT ALL GOES UP AGAIN.

And soooo many sellers think they shouldn't have to pay any fees but that the site should always work perfectly. I wonder where they think the money for the techies comes from?

Was the site down?

For about 10 minutes. It was down at 1700, but back at about 1705. From the complaints, it seems to have crashed not much before that, in which case eBay has done an exemplary job.
Telstra, for example, takes at least 6 hours to recover from even a simple crash. And their crashes actually have real-life consequences.

I had problems for a lot longer the 10 minutes.
I thought it was just ebay at first but later discovered I could not access any sites so assumed it was Optus.....it was out for the best part of an hour as far as I can ascertain.
