I was born in '67 so I have no memory of the old money.
Open day at the mint today. Special gold plated round 50 cent for those that visit.
I wish I was within driving distance to Canberra

Ah, pounds, shillings and pence. I remember the days, you could drive to the shops with 2 bob in your pocket, buy a packet of smokes,a paper, fill your tank and still have enough left over to pay the power bill.

Looks aside, at least now it has a tactile feature for the vision impaired and I'm sure that the more you have the better they'll look

I always think of "Turp's", the song and that first earth shattering walk out to the headland lolly shop with my sisters and

Sixpence to share that was only now worth 5 cents.

LOL, I came to Australia in 1958 from a decimal using country and had to learn all about pounds, shillings and pence.

Once I was comfortable to use Australian money, the powers that be made the change to decimal counting and measurements.

Was I getting confused???? My word, I was.

It was hard enough to learn a new language, but re-learning mathematics really gave me the pips.

Like Stawka, I think the new five Dollar note is ugly.

Erica

PS; Start saving the current notes, in a few years they will be collectors items.

They do look like something seen under a microscope.

And the colours make it look more like a lolly wrapper than legal currency.

No stawks, the pics have already been released in media so shouldn't be a prob posting them here.
