FYI - Having low DSR's removed.

I sent eBay a message last night about having my unfair 2 star rating for postage costs removed.....due to a 20c mark up on an international order. I got a reply this morning and basically they said the seller can't ask to have it removed, you need to contact the buyer and ask them to send a message to have it removed, as that's the only way they can do it. Feedback, even if positive, is also removed at the same time. They assured me that contacting the buyer like this is not in violation of their policy.

I was pretty sure it was my German buyer who left it and they confirmed it for me by using their username in the message, with no prompting from me.

I'm not sure how successful this approach is, but thought the information may be of some use to others who have unfairly been hit with a low DSR for something. I've sent my buyer a message (using google translate UGH!) and asked if they would send eBay a message asking to remove it and also pointed out that the low postage mark up was to cover the cost of the padded bag, as they are not free. I also said that it was not fair that they did this. I'm not expecting any response, but I had to at least try.

Cheers.

Jane

Yes, I'm not happy with the way these DSRs are set up either.

My buyer left POSITIVE feedback for an item and then decided to leave a low DSR for description for the same item.

I found out which item the low DSR related to via eBay, contacted the buyer who said they'd be happy to change the low DSR.

However when I try to send a 'feedback revision request' to the buyer -  I get a message saying that I "don't have any feedback eligible for revision".

I've emailed eBay telling them what has happened 4 times and am unable to get an answer so far.  (They seem to a form template for all queries related to feedback which I keep getting sent variations of).

They keep telling me to send the buyer a 'feedback revision request', even though I keep telling them eBay won't let me do that.

Does anyone know if it's possible to have a low DSR revised when the comment that went with it is positive?  And if so, how, bearing in mind I can't send them a feedback revision request?

All I was told was, if the buyer sends a request to have it removed, they will remove it. It sounds like they can't revise it, just remove it. To remove the low DSR, they also have to remove the positive feedback........which I'm happy for that to happen to get rid of the unfair 2 stars they left me.

I got a message from my buyer this morning who apologised profusely and said they would contact eBay today about it. Still won't beelieve it until a see it, but at least the buyer knows that they did the wrong thing by me. Fingers crossed for both of us!

My buyer was initially very responsive + willing to change the low detail seller rating.  However, since I was told by 4 different ebay customer service agents that under no circumstances could it be changed - I sort of left it at that with the buyer - both of us saying to each other - what a shame - as I would have given her a full refund including postage + she would have been happy to change the feedback if she could - now both of us were left in a bad situation.

It was only after reading your post - that I continued asking customer service if they were sure it could not be changed.  I think on the sixth attempt an agent did eventually say what you did -  that the buyer could ask for it to be removed.

I've asked the buyer to do this but I'm not getting a response now - so not hopeful it will be changed.

This is just beyond annoying + I think is more eBay fault for the long delay in somebody being able to tell me what to do to fix it - thereby losing the momentum I had with the buyer + their willingness to change it.

I've even complained to eBay about this + got yet another response with the same rubbish that low DSRs can't be changed or removed (when we know it can!) + lots of advice about how I should go about packing items etc to avoid low DSRs - SUPER ANNOYING when I already do all those things.

Sorry about the rant - but the whole thing was just ridiculous!!

Technically all those CS people are correct.

Low DSRs cannot be removed or changed. Feedback, however, can be if the seller is prepared to use one of their revision requests and the buyer actually does revise.

BUT the intiial bad feedback/DSRs will still count as a 'defect' even if revised.

I would be interested to know exactly how a seller can know how many stars a buyer gives in any category, because my understanding was it was anonymous. Surely if a seller had a fairly big volume of sales, it would be hard to tell?

Does ebay give sellers a star by star feedback or do sellers only see the general graph, like buyers?

Before it was a process of elimination to find who the culprit was, now ebay have made it easy for us since the new defect rules came in. Buyers are now told their star ratings are no longer anonymous.

Ebay give sellers and item number, transaction number and the low rating given.

This is what buyers see when they go to leave a star rating.
