NEW FVF on postage system A TOTAL MESS

I,m trying to work my way through a range of problems with the new FVF system on postage and just finding it a mess. I,ve had a buyer purchase a range of items and pay for them individually. Then they ask for combined post discount. If I do a partial refund, I need to PHONE CUSTOMER SUPPORT ( What the !!! ) to explain what has happened to claim back fees. Questions are being raised on other threads about normal combined post. Are we charged the FVF on total original listed price or combined invoice ? Lots of confusion and different answers depending on who you ask. I,ve had a number of international sales the last few days. With AP's ridiculous costs ( to make up for China imports )  and ebays 10% FVF on international post charges, the costs are out of this world. Frankly I'm embarassed to send the invoices.  COME ON EBAY - Issue some statements to clear up the confusion, answer some of the commonly asked questions ( REAL ANSWERS not just some airy fairy spin to try to deflect criticism ) and review the 10% FVF on International postage costs to bring your policy into line with what you offer sellers in other countries. YES I'M FRUSTRATED AND ANGRY !!!!!

Re: NEW FVF on postage system A TOTAL MESS

If a buyer is purchasing multiple BIN items with added postage from the one seller and adds the items to the cart there is a Request Total button at the top of the cart. The stupid thing is it only pops up when you mouse over the details in the cart so it is very easy to miss!

Once you have clicked on the Request Total button then the next step is to click the "Commit to Buy and Submit Request" button to confirm the purchase.

Re: NEW FVF on postage system A TOTAL MESS

They got rid of the FVF on postage in UK within 1 month of introducing it.

Sellers literally pulled their listings in protest and ebay UK relented and stopped charging the fee.

Hope they reverse to decision on ebay au.

Ebay Postage Policy says that you can't profit from postage.  (its a case of so as I say not as I do).

Apparently even in the US there is no FVF charged on international postage so it would appear that Australian sellers are being well and truly screwed by ebay at the moment.

I'm not sure where you heard that, but it's simply not true - FVF is still charged on postage in the UK.

Digi, I was told the same thing, early on, after the first announcement here.

then, from looking at the U.K. Boards, it looked like it was still in place.

Re: NEW FVF on postage system A TOTAL MESS

I do know that a few years ago, they tried to introduce mandatory free postage in media categories in the UK, and the protest over that got the decision revoked, but so far all the info on selling fees indicates that FVF on postage is there to stay.

That might be where the revoking comes from. Thanks Digi.

Re: NEW FVF on postage system A TOTAL MESS

Are we missing the elephant in the room here?

Should ebay profit from postage at all?

What about the poor sods selling an item for a dollar with a postage cost of $7.20?

They'll end up with 18c after ebay have done their bit and then have to pay 50c to paypal.

Not only has he made nothing but is, in fact, 32c out of pocket!

Ebay govern us to not profif from postage and are quick to chastise the over-chargers but is it now the kettle calling the pot black when, for so many sellers, the FVF on the postage will be greater than that of the actual item?

For me there is only one conclusion..........

It sux like a Dyson!

Re: NEW FVF on postage system A TOTAL MESS

I can see the logic of charging postage on the first listed postage rate (typically standard domestic) - doesn't mean I agree with it but I can see the logic, flawed as it is!

But charging it on Express Post and International Post options is just a blatant rip-off - I suspect eBay are "trying it on" here in Australia to see if they can get away with it before rolling it out overseas.

And having a system which makes it hard/impossible to combine items for the same buyer and not fixing it before this was rolled out is also wrong.

As is a system where you have to ring to get a refund ... should be automatic.

ANd this should have all been in place FIRST.

The whole thing is bordering on unconscionable conduct.
