Oz Post Store please clarify SOD compensation April 2013

?:|

There is a lot of conflicting information regarding the level of compensation that would be payable for lost or damaged parcels if the Signature on Delivery service is purchased for a parcel.

I can see that AP staffers have recently posted on other boards threads at this time - be great if you could respond to this one with clarification of the actual compensation level available with SOD - before you need to consider adding extra cover.

Is it $ 0

Is it $50

Is it $100

Is it something else ??

Thank You

Oz Post Store please clarify SOD compensation April 2013

Hi PJ,

I understand your confusion over this, it is bound to happen with such sweeping product changes. I can confirm for you that Australia Post may, at its complete discretion pay compensation of up to $50 for parcels lost or damaged that have no extra cover attached (ie, tracking only, or tracking + signature).

As always though, if you are concerned about the safety of your sale items we encourage you to take out enough extra cover to provide you with the peace of mind of knowing that neither you nor your buyer will be out of pocket if the worst occurs.

Alice

Thank you for quick response Alice.

Are you aware that on the AP Click and Send website the terms and conditions continue to state the following:

"Parcel Post" means the Australia Post Parcel Post delivery service as described in the Australia Post Terms and Conditions, and as modified by the express provisions of this agreement including the option of tracking or tracking with signature being available but only in conjunction with the Click and Send Service. Total scan events captured for the tracking or tracking with signature options may vary, particularly in remote locations. Should the tracking with signature option be selected then compensation up to $100 will be reimbursed for any loss or damage to the article. The terms and conditions of the $100 compensation are those terms and conditions applying to the Extra Cover service

What about the eBay flat rate satchels? Last I checked, you can purchase Signature On Delivery but not extra cover, and under the old pricing structure, flat rate satchels never qualified for the discretionary $50 compensation, but $1 SOD provided up to $100 compensation, yet now for $2.95 we get....what, exactly, besides the signature?

Add to that, all options other than "leave in a secure location out of the weather" have disappeared from the delivery instructions, and I'm sorry but I have trouble believing it's a "glitch" - what kind of glitch makes all options but the one that virtually necessitates paying $2.95 for SOD if we don't want the parcel safe-dropped disappear, then can't be fixed for over a week and counting?

Australia Post have no interest in offering a quality service to its customers. They say all the corporate spin but at the end of the day they take our money, provide a very average service and wipe their hands of any responsibility when they loose a parcel or stuff up.

Regardless of what we get told here, AP couldn't care less.

The amount of misinformation dealt out by AP over the last 6 weeks has been overwhelming and very disappointing.

Nothing they say can be relied upon at all.

It's unbelievable to me that Australia Post expect you to take out extra cover to protect the items THEY are being paid to deliver.

And, "at their discretion" may compensate you. That's just laughable. I pay for your service, and you MAY compensate me if YOUR EMPLOYEE "loses" my article.

No wonder we're "the lucky country".

Doesn’t expecting the unexpected make the unexpected expected?

Sorry guys AP are a joke.

$2.95 to ensure it is safe is unfordable on many items.

And my guess is AP are losing more parcels of late so are forcing this added cost and accepting NO responsibility for losing things at all.

As I said a joke. And blatant price gouging.

Think of this.

More Australia Post lies.
First C & S prices WILL not rise. LIE. Absolute Guarantee.
Now after being PROMISED that the "Do not safe drop option" Will be returned to the options on C & S packages. Now this.

This was asked many times on your Facebook page and many times AP staff guaranteed it was a glitch and would be returned.

I no longer believe a word you lot at Australia Post say.

Latest reply by Australia Post to the question about the Do not safe drop option.

Please note that as per the response you received from Ben, the original delivery option will not be restored. If you do not wish for articles to be left at the property then you will need to ensure that a Signature on Delivery is purchased.

I hope this information clarifies the matter, I’m sorry if this was not the outcome you were hoping for.

Mel

Australia Post are a joke.
Do this lot never stop the lies.
They need to be stopped.

The excuse used to these lies is we did not know or this is a recent decision.

Come on AP, decisions to do these things are done months in advance.

You are simply instructed to lie.

So sad for a once great and respected organization.
