I have just purchased an item costing $500. The seller did not include a shipping cost, because this was to be calculated at the end of the auction. Pickup was also an option.   This seller has not used EBay before and because the item cost $500, I want to pay with Paypal to ensure I don't get fleeced.   But I have run into a problem with the system. EBay won't allow me to complete payment because the seller has not added a shipping cost. Ebay insists I contact the seller for a shipping cost.   I contacted the seller, and because the shipping cost calculated by him was $151.00, I opted for pickup and the seller has agreed.   So I asked him to send me an invoice, assuming it would come through EBay. Instead, the seller used the EBay message service to send me his business name, ABN and the amount payable $500. No address or bank details and I still can't pay with PayPal or use the EBay "Pay Now" option   Because he is new to EBay he may not know how to send the PayPal invoice. But if I contact him by phone he may now argue for COD removing my PayPal protection.   So my question is, how can I instruct the seller on the process of sending me a PayPal invoice through EBay for my purchase?         ... I have not sent the buyer an invoice, yet they decided to pay 5 dollars postage and pay me within a couple hours of aucvtion end. I was not aware this could even be done since i have not quoted any form of postage whatsoever. 5 dollars will not even cover the cost of a box and registered post, let alone the actual postage itself. If i refund the amount via paypal, does this no longer protect me from a non payment dispute if the buyer refuses to pay the proper amount? I do not understand how these high fees work is it really worth it? i list something and it shows my balance and then i get a bill for nearly 300.00 along with the fact they take my money from pay pal is this fair and is this right??? how can we make money when they take all this money from us and i do not understand how that works, they take a listing fee but what are these other charges, is it the amount of the item you are selling that they charge you for, it really is unfair your thoughts and help would be appreciated.
