Hi everyone, I’m a casual eBay user and I've run into a situation where I’m being charged a Final Value Fee on a sale that was never fulfilled and has been fully refunded. I had an item sell on another platform and missed the eBay notification. As soon as I realized, I messaged the buyer and asked them to initiate a cancellation. The buyer sent a cancellation request, but since I don't check eBay often, I didn't see the request in time. Because I didn't "Accept" the request within the window, the system automatically declined it. The buyer tried again, but it eventually turned into a dispute/claim to get their money back. The buyer has now been fully refunded, but eBay is still charging me the seller’s percentage fee. i contacted support and they told me the fee is valid because the item wasn't sent, but the only reason it went to a "claim" was because I didn't understand that the cancellation request would auto-decline if I didn't see it, the agent I spoke with was very adamant of accusing me of declining the cancellation request which made me quite frustrated, Does anyone know if it's possible to get a one-time courtesy credit for the fee? I acted in good faith to get the buyer their money back, but the automated system has penalized me for not refunding their money and not knowing the specific cancellation workflow. Any advice on how to get a human to review this would be appreciated!
