Hi, I dont use ebay very often, and recently I won an item on ebay. Postage was indicated at $15 and the item won for $52. I had issues with my ebay link to paypal so I opted to pay direct bank transfer (which was one of the options the seller provided). Anyway, the seller provided me with their bank account details and I paid for the item. I have since logged back into ebay only to find that the items postage cost has increased from $15 to $30 and that the payment method has changed to say that I paid $67 via paypal but still owe $15 for extra postage!!!  I am not sure what to do here - the seller didnt mention anything to me about the increase in postage cost when they emailed me their bank details. I am also not sure why the system shows that I paid via paypal? Any advice appreciated. ... View more

Hi all, probably a silly question..but do i have to let buyers know to use the calculator for posting to different states/suburb on my items. I did send my other items on my own accord, but found i was out either $2/$3  (which didnt mind as my fault). Firstly mea culpa..I just bought a doll from Sydney saw the post and thought it was reasonable only to find after buying for 110 plus dollars that the seller who touted the mint box was going to send in a satchel.  This isnt the first time lately this has happened with one mint doll in mint box being sent within Melbourne in a tough bag..needless to say it arrived trashed..still waiting on that one. My question is that unless I pay more than stated in the postage costs I will get a possible ruined item that is advertised as a rare collectible doll..is this just a moral question as the seller in her listing says she is sending it in a satchel and if you want a box it will cost more or should the seller be expected to show Some commonsense and package appropriately for the item.....will pay to get it but a bit annoyed probably at myself for not reading the fine print on packaging in the screed. thanks listing 251213805356 ... I won an item and immediately paid the invoice which included a quoted amount for shipping to my country in the item description.  The next day, the seller emailed me stating that she had hoped to get a much higher price and that the postage is an additional (significant) amount, because the parcel is big due to all of the good packaging she did to send the items (several items in one listing) to my country.    She asked me to simply pay the additional amount into her paypal account (ie no invoice), or alternatively, offered me the chance to cancel the sale.   Postage has gone from the quoted 52 euro, which I have already paid, to 132 euro, so seller is asking for an additional 80 euro.   I don't want to cancel the sale as I want the items at the good price I bid and won. Seller appears to want additional postage to compensate for a winning bid which is lower than she had hoped for.  I fear that if I do not pay the additional amount, she will refuse to send the package to me. Hi,   Just wondering about Postage Rates Calculation ..... I have just been to the post office to send an item and found it was actually $10.00 more to post than the ebay postage calculator reflected when I entered the dimensions & weight of the item.   The item weighs less than 5kg, but is charged at 14-15kg due to cubing the box dimensions. I have posted the item as the buyer had paid the postage as shown on ebay and the difference in rates must be a mistake on my part when I was calculating.   Is the ebay postage calculator accurate?   Should I ask buyers to contact me so that I can take the item to the post office first and check prices?   Any advice on how to handle postage/packing would be much appreciated as I am new to selling and want to ensure that I get the rates correct for the buyer (and also myself).   Thanks very much for your assistance. ... Hi there - I often sell to Australians, with pleasure, but I have worries about sending candles to you guys there because of an experience I had with a Texan buyer many years ago, who said they melted due to being left on his porch by the mailman, when he wasn't home. Can anyone tell me what the system is over there? Would a parcel be left in the heat if the buyer wasn't home? I have found that postage cost is based on weight and volume, and most sellers try to minimise this for the buyer.  This seller has charged postage twice for two similar items, my expectation is they would be packed together, and not attract individual postage costs. Buyer won two items from me to a value of $1500. However they are large heavy items, I am in Australia and he is in Austria. The first item has a cubic weight of 5.5 kg and the other cubes out at 23kg (big item). Problem is he thinks I'm ripping him off with the freight, even though I have supported the quote with links to Aust Post website, the item measurements so he can get his own quote. He has said he will only pay $300, which is fine, as postage is $290. But this includes no insurance or tracking. I have offered to pay for tracking if only to protect myself.   After all this, I have bent over backwards to accommodate this guy, he still wants me to offer a cheaper shipping method.... WTF??? I would offer to burn the item and send him the ashes, but that would probably score me some bad feedback. Freight is freight, I don't determine the postage rates.   I suspect he is trying to leverage me on the back of the large bid, to subsidise his postage. How is that fair? Why can this be allowable and I can't post negative feedback against his underhand technique? What can I do? Apart from taking the hit (bird in the hand), but I'm still offended.   I am also worried, if I accept the twisted arm and subsidise, will he then screw me through Paypal in 2 months time if the goods arrive late, or damaged in anyway. How do I protect myself against this kind of buyer. If he receives the goods, shafts a knife through the box, then claims the goods are not MIB, will Paypal refund him and debit me?   Any advice? ... I specifically requested and received confirmation of the expedited shipping from the seller prior to and on purchase and payment of the items. The items will arrive after the date required, even with a few working days leeway which I allowed for. The value of the combined expedited shipping of the items is over $200US and the seller is offering only to send another similar item worth $14.90 retail price stating it was a mistake.
