I opened my PayPal account a bit over 8 years ago and linked it to a credit card. About 3 years ago my bank offered me a better card and I linked this to my account.
The account shows two credit cards, even though one is defunct. Of course I always transact on the active card. I've never had a bank account linked to PayPal.
My original, now closed, card had an expiry date of March 2013 and PayPal has advised me to update the expiry to avoid "interruption to my service".
I thought I could simply remove the old card and continue to fund PayPal transactions from the newer card, as I've been doing for the past three years. When I try to remove the card I get this message :
"Removing this card will prevent you from sending credit card payments after you reach your account Sending Limit ".
I assume this is because I'll be removing the card that the account was originally verified with.
Can I safely remove this card then go through verification with the newer card or will I be forced to add a bank account?
(I'm tempted to simply make up an expiry date for the old card. After all, that account has been dead for three years but it hasn't affected my ability to use PayPal. However I'd like to do things the right way and with minimum disruption to my use of PayPal.)
